How to enable 2FA for Keeper Security
Install Authy
The best way to manage all your 2FA accounts is to use the Authy app. It enables you to have a single mobile app for all your 2FA accounts and you can sync them across multiple devices, even accessing them on the desktop. Install Authy on your device by searching for it in your device’s app store.
Important: If any sites prompt you to use Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication, note that you can always substitute the Authy 2FA app instead. Although they work in similar ways, Authy is more feature-rich and allows for multi-device syncing, cloud-backups, and easier account recovery should you change or lose your phone or device. Locate 2FA
When logged into your Keeper Security account, click on the “Down” arrow to the right of your account icon (or the generic image if you haven’t added an image yet.).
Then click “Settings.”
On the Settings page, click the “Security” section.
And on the next screen click “Two-Factor Authentication”
The next screen will have “Text-message” pre-selected. Click the button to deselect it, and then click “Google Authenticator (TOTP)”. Remember – any website or app that pushes you to use Google Authenticator will also accept Authy as a 2FA service, so you can move forward with your Authy app.
Enable 2FA
The next screen will prompt you to enable your authenticator app by capturing a QR code. Keep this window open as you reach for your phone.
To capture the QR code, launch Authy on your device. Click ‘Add Account’ at the bottom of the screen.
You’ll be prompted to hold your phone up to your computer to ‘Scan QRCode’ and capture the QR code provided by Keeper.
Once the QR code is captured, Authy will display your Keeper account with the appropriate Keeper icon. If you desire you can also change the logo or the nickname you give the account right on the Authy app. When ready, click ‘Save’.
The Authy app will now generate a numeric ‘token’ associated with your Keeper account.
Finish Setup
Return to the Keeper screen displaying the QR Code. Note the 6 digit code displayed on your Authy 2FA app and enter this code in the entry field below. Then click the frequency you would like to mandate 2FA. For the highest security, we choose “Require code every Login.” Once you make a selection, click next.
You will also receive 8 “Backup Codes.” Make note of them by writing them down or printing them and keep it safe. When ready to complete enablement, click the yellow bar on the bottom of the screen.
Now your Keeper account is secured with Authy 2FA. From now on, you will need to use the Authy app when you login at whatever interval you indicated above.
