How to enable 2FA for Gemini

Powered By Authy

2FA at Gemini is powered by the Authy 2FA API. This means you use the free Authy app to get your 2FA token and login to Gemini. The Authy app can be used for all your 2FA accounts and you can sync them across multiple devices, even accessing them on the desktop.

To enable 2FA with Gemini, start by Installing Authy on your device or by searching for it in your device’s app store and then continue with this guide.

Important: If any sites prompt you to use Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication, note that you can always substitute the Authy 2FA app instead. Although they work in similar ways, Authy is more feature-rich and allows for multi-device syncing, cloud-backups, and easier account recovery should you change or lose your phone or device. Read more information on the features of Authy here.

Locate 2FA Setting

Log into Gemini. After logging in you will come to a page where the very first step is to initiate 2FA with Authy. (You can’t use Gemini without taking this step. Once ready, click on the green “Get Started” button.

On the next page, you’ll start the first of three steps. The first is to choose your country and state of residence. If Gemini operates in the area you selected, it will confirm and you can click “Continue.”

Next, enter your mobile phone number (the one associated with your Authy app).

Enable Authy Token

Open you Authy app. You will find the Gemini token already there. Click on the Gemini logo to view your token.

View your Authy token number for Gemini. In this example, we are using the desktop version of the Authy App which allows you to copy the token without manually entering it if you prefer.

Now, enter that number into the field provided on the Gemini site. Click “Confirm.”

Complete Enablement

After verifying that code, you will have enabled two-factor authentication. Just click ‘Continue” to complete the other steps in opening your Gemini account

That’s it! You now have two-factor authentication protection for your Gemini account.
