How to enable 2FA for Bittrex

Install Authy

The best way to manage all your 2FA accounts is to use the Authy app. It enables you to have a single mobile app for all your 2FA accounts and you can sync them across multiple devices, even accessing them on the desktop. Install Authy on your device by searching for it in your device’s app store.

Important: If any sites prompt you to use Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication, note that you can always substitute the Authy 2FA app instead. Although they work in similar ways, Authy is more feature-rich and allows for multi-device syncing, cloud-backups, and easier account recovery should you change or lose your phone or device. Read more information on the features of Authy here.

Locate 2FA

When logged into your Bittrex account, click on the “Account” on the top right of your dashboard.

Then click “Two-Factor Authentication” on the left side navigation bar.

Now you’ll see a ling page with all the 4 steps to enabling 2FA.

The first will tell you to download Google Authenticator. Remember, any site that tries to force you to use Google Authenticator can just as easily be protected with Authy. Just follow the same steps.

The next screen will prompt you to enable your authenticator app by capturing a QR code. Keep this window open as you reach for your phone.

Enable 2FA

To capture the QR code, launch Authy on your device. Click ‘Add Account’ at the bottom of the screen.

You’ll be prompted to hold your phone up to your computer to ‘Scan QRCode’ and capture the QR code on the Bittrex dashboard.

Once the QR code is captured, Authy will display your Bittrex account.

You can also change the nickname you give the account right on the Authy app. When ready, click ‘Save’ and return to the Bittrex dashboard.

Before continuing, remember to copy your security key. You may need it to gain access if you lose your phone.

For step 4, Open your Auty app to the Bittrex account and note the Authy code that is generated.

You’ll want to now enter that code in the appropriate field in your Bittrex dashboard. Then click “Enable 2FA”

Finish Setup

YOu will then see a notification to check the email account associated with your Bittrex account.

When you find the email, click the link to initiate the finalization of two-factor authentication with Bittrex.

Use the Authy app again to generate a new code for your Bittrex account. Then enter the code into this new field back on the Bittrex site.

Once you’ve done that, you will be notified that tw0-factor authentication is successful.

You will again need your Authy 2FA code to disable two-factor authentication on Bittrex.
