Upcoming CyberSecurity Meetups

2016-10-21_1659

For the cybersecurity-minded, Twilio’s Authy team often attends, and sometimes hosts, Meetups all over the globe, including New York, London, Bogota, and, of course, in our hometown of San Francisco. Here are a handful  taking place over the next few weeks.

Organizer: BASE – Bay Area Software Engineers

BASE is a San Francisco area organization that hosts emerging tech events for software engineers and anyone who has a love for new tech, software engineering, and the opportunity to network with people building the future. Coding ability is encouraged but not required to attend.

  • TOPIC OF NEXT MEETUP: Authy — Easy and Quick 2FA
  • WHEN: Thursday, October 27, 2016. 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM
  • WHERE:  Twilio HQ,  645 Harrison Street, 3rd floor, San Francisco, CA
  • DETAILS: As security in web apps gets increasingly complex, many businesses turn to two-factor authentication as a way to secure a user’s onboarding and continued use. Authy’s Josh Staples will briefly discuss why 2FA is an important requirement for web citizenship and walk guests through a basic Authy 2FA implementation. You’ll see how Authy 2FA can be used for authentication of both logins and transactions for web and mobile applications. Pizza, beer, soft drinks and swag provided.
  • RSVP: There are limited spots, so please be awesome and RSVP via Eventbrite. If you can’t make it to the meetup anymore, please free your spot so another person can show up.

Organizer: SF Node

ew_plygSFNode is a community-run Node.js Meetup in San Francisco created by the CTO of NodeSource, the enterprise node company. Each month, SFNode features speakers taking on topics (both beginner and advanced) about Node.js, server-side JavaScript, npm and the surrounding ecosystem.

  • TOPIC OF NEXT MEETUP: Authy 2FA and Node
  • WHEN: Thursday, November 3, 2016. 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM
  • WHERE:  Twilio HQ,  645 Harrison Street, 3rd floor, San Francisco, CA
  • DETAILS: Authy will provide the pizza, beverages, some swag and maybe some leftover Halloween candy at this one. We’ll also run through some applications for two-factor authentication that you may not have thought of before, and present a simple Authy 2FA implementation that you can use in your web and mobile applications. Also on the agenda is Thomas Hunter II, who will provide an overview of the various data structures Redis has to offer. You’ll learn how Redis can be used to share data across multiple Node instances, and how to perform atomic operations using MULTI & EVAL commands.
  • RSVP: Join SFNode and RSVP for this Meetup here.
