Authy Transitioning to Twilio Billing & New Pricing

We have important news regarding next steps in our integration with Twilio. In the next month, we will be transitioning our billing from Authy’s system to Twilio’s and introducing new simpler pricing. You do not need to do anything today and will receive specific emails with instructions in the coming weeks. Following is a brief overview of what to expect.

Setting up Your Twilio Account

To set up Twilio billing you will need an account on the Twilio portal if you don’t already have one. You will receive an email in the next week outlining the step by step process to either set-up a new Twilio account or how to use your existing Twilio account to connect it with your Authy account. You will need to complete this process by July 24th, 2015.

Twilio Billing

It’s important to understand that standard Twilio billing operates differently from Authy billing. Twilio billing requires you to fund and maintain a balance in your Twilio account that is drawn down by use. Twilio provides settings to automatically replenish your account to ensure there’s always a sufficient balance. You can pay with any major credit card. If you are currently being invoiced by Authy or have a monthly plan, we will get in touch with you separately to arrange for your transition.

If you have an outstanding Authy balance you will receive a separate email on how to pay your balance which will need to be addressed by July 24th, Otherwise, your account may be suspended.

Authy Pricing

We will also be introducing new pricing. The new structure is simpler and less expensive. It eliminates per user charges, provides a free tier and offers lower SMS and voice prices based on the destination.

What to Expect

• You will receive an email to setup Twilio billing for Authy services.
• You will receive an email with any outstanding Authy balance and how to pay it.
• You will be contacted to transition committed/contracted legacy pricing plans to Twilio’s new plans.
